Ryan incident: Agra schools decide to strengthen security measures

Agra: In the wake of the brutal murder of the seven-year-old child in the Gurugram-based Ryan International School, the Association of Progressive Schools of Agra (APSA) held a meeting on Tuesday to ensure proper safety measures for children’s safety in schools.

The meeting was joined by the representatives of 57 self-financed CBSE and ICSE schools who issued 10 guidelines and five precautions which need to be followed by every school and parents.

Speaking over the same, Susheel Gupta, founder secretary of APSA said, "The guidelines for schools include prohibiting non-teaching staffers from entering student toilets. Separate drinking water facility will also be made available to employees so that they do not enter the school premises. In case they have to enter, they will have to be accompanied by their supervisor and will not be allowed an entry in groups."

The schools have also been ordered to do proper verification of non-teaching staffers, by issuing identity cards to then and making them wear uniform.

The five precautions to be taken by the schools include the installation of CCTV cameras at vulnerable spots in schools and regular sessions of parents-teachers meeting. In the meeting it was also decided to tell the parents to keep a tap on the online activities of their child.
