Paper 2 of JEE Advanced 2024 tougher than Paper 1, students say Math paper challenging
A total of 97,351 students cleared the qualifying cut-off this year. Only the top 2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main 2024 were eligible for JEE Advanced 2024.
IIT Madras had organized the JEE Advanced 2024 examination this year. This year the cutoff for unreserved category in JEE Main 2024 was 93.2362181, which is the highest compared to last year. A total of 97,351 students cleared the qualifying cut-off this year. Only the top 2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main 2024 were eligible for JEE Advanced 2024.
Only students who qualify JEE Advanced exam will be able to participate in JOSAA Counseling and get admission in B.Tech courses from all the IITs of the country.
According to the candidates participating in this examination, this time Paper 2 of JEE Advanced 2024 is more tough than Paper 1. The Physics section in JEE Advanced Paper 1 has been more difficult than other sections. Many students have described the Mathematics section in Paper 2 as challenging. However, the question papers of the exam were Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Section Questions (MSQs) and Numerical Based Questions. In such a situation, there may be a slight reduction in the cutoff. Last year the minimum marks for candidates to qualify JEE Advanced exam was 86, which this time it could possibly be 85 to 90.
Talking about the probable cutoff of JEE Advanced 2024, this time it can be 85 to 90 for OBC-NCL, whereas in the year 2023 this cutoff was 86. This time the cutoff of General-EWS was 75 to 80 whereas in the year 2023 it was 77. For SC category candidates, the cutoff is likely to be 45 to 50, whereas in 2023 it was 43. This year JEE Advanced 2024 cutoff for ST category may be between 45 to 50, whereas last year it was 43. If we talk about PWD category students, last year the cutoff was 43, which is likely to be between 45 to 50 this time.
The Exam offers seats in IITs, NITs, IIITs and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) will be done through JoSAA counseling i.e. Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA 2024). Those who have qualified JEE Advanced 2024 will be eligible for admission to IITs.
