As per latest finding of a research paper, Organic Food possesses the properties of increasing immunity and thus helpful in keeping oneself safe amidst the corona outbreak.

Covid-19 is a situation of crises for all. With all the guidelines issued on social distancing, avoiding crowd it is very necessary to work on immunity as well. Amidst the virus situation across the nation, eating healthy has become a priority across the globe. Questions on generic modifications in food, use of chemicals in food, processing and storage of food will rise as people will become more cautious on what they consume and how it is grown and processed.

Shivani Kalra, Asst Professor (Goel Group of Institutions Lucknow) & Research Scholar in her recent research paper titled “ORGANIC FOOD IN SURVIVING THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK” published with a Scopus indexed journal, from Mattingley Publishing United States,  suggests the use of organic food products. In her research paper she outline the advantages of consuming organic food over chemically produced or modified food. She also lays emphasis on kitchen organic gardening. The guidelines laid by WHO also recommends the use of fresh food avoiding processed food.

“There are several health issues associated with the use of chemicals present in conventionally grown food, excessive use of these chemicals gives rise to lungs disease, asthma, diabetes, learning defects, and digestion issues and sometimes it also leads to cancer. Food grown organically helps in keeping the nutrients in the food intact, making it safe for consumption. Organic food not only has health benefits but the method of organic farming is eco-friendly, it even helps in balancing the ecological balance and preserves biodiversity,” said Shivani Kalra.

With proven health benefits, organic food products have taken a surge in the Indian market. The government of India has launched several schemes in support of organic food farming in India. The paramparagat krishi vikas yojana is one such scheme that encourages organic farming in India.
