Bengaluru: The Centre has accepted the proposal of Karanataka state government to shift Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus from Dharwad Mummigatti.

The sprawling 668 acres had been inspected by an expert panel headed by Additional Secretary, Union Human Resource Development Ministry, S.Subramanyam on Thursday.

Subramanyam gave his approval for shifting the campus on this land finding it an appropriate place for this educational institute.

The district administration has also ensured for constructing a 1500 meters long connecting road from national highway to the campus.
