JEE Mains 2017: Rajasthan's Kalpit Veerwal tops with 360/360 score

New Delhi: Kalpit Veerwal, a Class 12 student from Rajasthan who clinched All India Rank 1 in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2017, has credited his parents, school and coaching teachers for his success in the examination.

The JEE Mains 2017 results were declared on Thursday. Speaking to a leading daily, Veerwal, who lives in Udaipur, said that the chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), RK Chaturvedi, personally called him on Thursday morning to inform him about the same.

He has topped the examination in General as well as Scheduled Caste category, scoring 360 marks out of 360.

“It is a moment of delight for me to be the topper of JEE Mains 2017, but I am taking it normally and focusing on JEE Advanced, which will be conducted next month," said the 17-year-old scholar.

He appeared in Class 12 board exam privately from MDS Public School this year and is in wait for his result.

Revealing his 'success mantra', Veerwal said, "I did regular studies, never missed the classes, kept my confidence high and cleared doubts from teachers to achieve success in JEE Mains 2017,” adding, "I studied for around 5-6 hours on a daily basis apart from coaching and school classes."

Veerwal credited his family, school teachers and Kota-based Resonance Eduventure Private Limited’s Udaipur branch for his success in the exam. He has been studying at the coaching since he was in Class 8.

“My parents looked after me well so that I do not get ill and miss studies,” he said.

It may be mentioned here that Veerwal's father Pushkar Lal Veerwal is a compounder at Udaipur’s Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital and his mother Pushpa Veerwal is a government school teacher. His elder brother is a medical student in AIIMS.
