IIT, Guwahati announces dates for admissions into Ph.D programs

Guwahati: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati has opened admissions for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program in the following department for the academic session 2016-17:

• Chemical Engineering
• Design
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Mathematics
• Humanities & Social Sciences
• Center for the Environment
• Center for Energy
• Center for Linguistics
• Science &Technology
• Center for Nanotechnology

Educational Qualification:

Ph.D in Engineering: Candidates, who are interested in applying for this program, must hold a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Sciences/Pharmacy with a minimum of 60 per cent or a cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5.

Ph.D in Design: Interested students can apply for the post only if they are holding M.Arch/M.Des/M.tech/ME degree with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks

Ph.D in Science: The candidates applying for this program must hold a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Design with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60 per cent of marks.

Ph.D in Humanities and Social Sciences: Candidates looking for this program must hold Master’s degree in Arts/Commerce/Science with minimum 55 per cent of marks.

Selection procedure

On the basis of candidates performance in GATE/ CEED/NET/INSPIRE, marks/grades in the qualifying exams, the candidates will be called for Written Aptitude Test (WAT) or an interview/portfolio review.
