GATE 2025: Registration for GATE exam starts today
Students who want to appear in GATE 2025 exam can apply for GATE 2024 exam through the official website gate2025.iitr.ac.in.
Registration for GATE 2025 exam will start from today. IIT Roorkee will start the registration process for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2025) from Friday, August 24. This exam is conducted for admission to post graduate engineering programs. Students who want to appear in GATE 2025 exam can apply for GATE 2024 exam through the official website gate2025.iitr.ac.in. This year also GATE exam will be for 30 subjects.
Candidates can apply for only one subject in GATE exam. If candidates want to appear in the second paper (two-paper combination), they can add the relevant paper to their original application. If a candidate fills more than one form for GATE exam, only one will be accepted. However, the fee paid for the remaining applications will not be refunded.

When will the GATE exam be held?
The GATE exam will be held in February next year. GATE 2025 exam will be conducted on 1, 2, 15 and 16 February 2025 at various examination centers across the country. The exam will be held in two shifts. The first shift exam will start at 9.30 am and will run till 12.30 pm. The second shift exam will start at 2.30 pm and will run till 5.30 pm.
Eligibility and age limit for GATE 2025
There is no age limit to participate in GATE 2025. Talking about educational qualification, students of third or final year of graduation from a recognized institute or university or have completed a degree in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts / Humanities can apply for GATE 2025.
Application fee for GATE 2025
For GATE 2025, candidates of General Category (Foreign Candidates) will have to pay Rs 1800 per test paper. On the other hand, candidates of women, SC, ST, PWD category will have to pay a fee of Rs 900 per test paper. Application fee has to be paid in online mode.

GATE 2025 Exam Pattern
According to IIT Roorkee notification, there will be 30 exam papers in GATE 2025 exam. The exam papers will be in English. All questions will be objective. This exam will be of 3 hours. There will be three types of questions in this exam - Multiple Choice Question (MCQ), Multiple Select Question (MSQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT). There will be four options for a question, which will have only one correct answer. GATE 2025 scorecard is valid for three years after the result is released.
The exam will be for a total of 100 marks. It will have questions of 15 marks from General Aptitude, 13 marks from Engineering Mathematics and 72 marks from Subject Matters. Each question will be for 1 mark or 2 marks. There is negative marking on MCQ questions, so 1/3 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer of 1 mark MCQ and 2/3 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer of 2 marks MCQ. There is no negative marking for MSQ and NAT questions, whereas there is no partial marking for MSQ.
