DU students are permitted to complete a semester at a foreign university

Good news for the students of Delhi University. Soon they will get a chance to complete the semester studies in foreign institutions or universities. DU is working on this under the Twin Degree system. Under this, undergraduate students will be given the opportunity to complete the final year semester in foreign institutions. The committee formed to implement this system has presented its recommendations. This report will be placed for approval in the Academic Council meeting to be held on 27 December.
According to the recommendations of the panel, undergraduate students after the 2022-2023 batch will have the option to complete the third, fifth or seventh semester abroad. A DU official said that before granting the degree to the students, the credits earned by them in foreign institutions will also be taken into account. They will get a minimum of 12 credits and a maximum of 26 credits.
The panel constituted under the Twin Program has also recommended scholarships for economically weaker students. Under this, scholarships will be given to economically weak meritorious students. DU is preparing to send one or two students of this category abroad. According to the information, DU's International Relations Office will be responsible for starting cooperation with foreign universities for the twinning program, in which matters like course fees, student medical insurance, accommodation and other necessary arrangements will be considered.
DU has about 90 MoUs with foreign institutions for exchange programs, workshops and seminars and other activities. Professor Amarjeev Lochan, Joint Dean of the Department of International Relations, said, we are planning to sign at least 30 MoUs for the twinning program with top institutions around the world. Special emphasis is being given to institutions in Asia in these. He said, under such MoUs, semester fees will be waived in foreign institutions, but students may have to bear the cost of their accommodation and travel themselves.
