Schools to Reopen from tomorrow in these four states

BIHAR: After remaining closed for over 10 months, schools in Bihar will reopen for Classes 6 to 8 from February 8, 2021. Schools have been asked to ensure adherence to COVID-19 guidelines for the safety and security of students and staff members. Wearing face masks and maintaining appropriate distance from each other has been mandated for students and teachers.

Earlier, a decision was taken to reopen all educational institutions in Bihar, including schools, colleges and coaching centres from January 4. However, schools for middle and lower classes still remain closed.

In other states:

Meanwhile, Education Department of the Uttar Pradesh government has sent a proposal to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to reopen all schools in the state for students of grade 1 to 5 from March 1 and for classes 6 to 8 from February 15. The CM is yet to make a final decision on the same, according to a report.

Schools were reopened for higher grades in the states of Gujarat, Telangana, Meghalaya, Karnataka. Also, Himachal Pradesh, national capital and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir from February 1.

The Uttarakhand Government issued orders asking schools all over the state to resume Classes 6 to 11 in offline mode from February 8. However, it also asked the school administrations to ensure COVID-19 appropriate behaviour on part of both students and teachers.

All education institutions were shut in the state in March, last year. As part of the measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
