In the coming time, the marks of 9th, 10th and 11th can play an important role in the result of class 12th. NCERT's unit 'Parakh' (Performance Assessment, Review and Knowledge Analysis) has recommended adding the marks of 9th, 10th and 11th in the report card of class 12 in the report submitted to the Ministry of Education. The report said that if students perform well in the examinations of class 9, 10, 11 and remain in classes continuously, then they should get the benefit of this in the result of class 12th.

According to the report, the joint assessment will be based on formative assessment (holistic progress card, group discussion, project) and summative assessment (term exam). Holistic progress card of class 9 to 12 has already been designed. It will play a major role in formative assessment. The report suggested that 70 per cent of formative assessment and 30 percent of summative assessment should be added to the final marks of class 9. Similarly, the report card of class 10 should have 50 per cent formative assessment and 50 per cent summative assessment, the report card of class 11 should have 40 per cent formative assessment and 60 per cent summative assessment, while class 12 should have 30 per cent formative and 70 per cent summative assessment.

Sources said that the report will be shared with all school boards so that they can give feedback. Parakh was set up last year. It prepared the report after discussions with 32 school boards.

States presented different accounts on the discussion

The first round of discussions was held with officials from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in the meeting held last week. In the meeting, the states suggested that instead of adding the performance of class 9, 10 and 11 in the class 12 report card, 40% of the class 9 score and 60% of the class 10 score should be included in the final score of class 10. Similarly, 40% of the class 11 score and 60% of the class 12 score should be included in the final score of class 12.
