The year 2024 has been the year of many big companies merging with each other. This benefited the shareholders and stake holders of both the companies. The market share of both of them increased. The ability to fight the competitors increased and there are many such benefits, due to which the process of merging of big company groups continued. Disney India became Reliance's and Air India made Vistara its own. The matter is not limited to these two. This list is long.

According to a Bloomberg report, last year there was a merger and acquisition of assets worth $ 96.9 billion. Which is 18.2 percent more than a year ago. This figure includes all types of pending, proposed and completed deals. These figures are also important because in the year 2023, mergers and acquisitions fell by 63.8 percent to $ 81.9 billion.
Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries has merged with the Indian unit of global media empire Disney for Rs 70 thousand crore. Both the companies together formed a joint venture on 14 November 2024. In this new company, Reliance Industries has 16.34 percent shares, Viacom 18 has 46.82 percent shares and Disney has 36.84 percent shares.
Air India and Vistara together have almost changed the power structure of the Indian aviation industry, which is a low-cost carrier in India. The new company has 5600 flights every week from 90 destinations in India. Singapore Airlines has a 56 percent stake in the new company formed after the merger of the two.
In September, Gujarat State Petronet disclosed restructuring of its business. Under this, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, Gujarat State Petronet, GSPC Energy Limited and Gujarat Gas merged together. It has not yet received approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, BSE, NSE and other shareholders.
Seren Productions of Adar Poonawalla, CEO of Serum Institute, which became famous for making the corona vaccine, partnered with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment. In October, Serene Productions announced the acquisition of 50 percent shares of Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment. After this deal, Karan Johar still holds 50 percent shares and he will remain the executive chairman of both his production houses.
Mankind Pharma finalized the deal to acquire Bharat Serum and Vaccines Limited in October. The deal was filed for Rs 13,768 crore. After this, the company's market share in women's health and fertility drug business has increased.
Ambuja Cement took over Panna Cement by paying Rs 10,422 crore. The deal became effective from August 16. This deal has made Panna Cement a wholly owned subsidiary of Ambuja Cement. After the merger, the market share of the new company has increased in a large part of the country's cement business.
