Two false rape cases have come to light in UP, calling for revisit to laws
Rampur (UP): The laws have been enacted to provide relief to victims. But sometime they are used and abused for pecuniary gains. The new facilities provided by the government to help have also been often misused. Two such cases came to light here on Saturday.
A middle-aged village woman hailing from Rampur district dialled number 100 to complain to the police that a group of law-breakers had raped her in a car. This special number has been provided for seeking police help.
The phone call activated the police team which rushed to the crime location given by the woman. The site was close to village Aharo under Bilaspur police station in this discrit in the western part of the state.
Narrating the story, she said, she was waiting for a bus near the village when a small car screeched to a halt. The occupants offered lift which she accepted because she had waited long for a bus to arrive and some of them were known to her.
Three of the occupants raped her after the car covered a small distance and reached a deserted place. She was thrown out of the car after committing the crime.
The police team brought her to the police station, recorded her statement and registered an FIR against all the three.
Investigation into the case revealed that the entire story was fabricated. Put pressure she admitted that it was a false case aimed at maligning these persons. Also that she was paid Rs 10,000 by their opponents to take a revenge.
The woman and other persons involved have been arresed.
Similarly, a gang-rape case reported from Jewar in Saharanpur district appears to be false. For, the medical examination did not support the rape theory.
Further investigation is being made into this case which has attracted large attention because it has been given a communal colour.
