'First the bus hit an auto and then it kept on hitting vehicles one after the other. Many pedestrians and hawkers also came under the bus's grip. In a short while, people started screaming on the road'. An eyewitness narrated this painful accident and told how the road became red with blood in a moment. This bus was going from Kurla railway station to Andheri when this accident happened. 6 people have died in this accident. While more than 49 are reported to be injured. This accident happened near Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) L. Ward in Kurla due to a problem in the brakes of the bus. After the accident, the bus driver has been taken into custody.

Car pushed for 100 metres

Eyewitness Zaid Ahmed said, "I was leaving my house to go to the railway station when I heard a loud noise and saw a bus hitting several pedestrians, rickshaws and cars. I immediately rushed forward to help people and rescued some injured people trapped in rickshaws. The injured were rushed to Bhabha Hospital." Another eyewitness said that his car was pushed for 100 metres before the bus stopped. The mob chased the bus and caught the driver and beat him up till the police arrived. Police said that the driver Sanjay More was taken to JJ Hospital for medical examination.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Afreen Abdul Salim Shah (19) Anam Sheikh (20), Kaniz Fatima Ghulam Qadir (55) Shivam Kashyap (18) Vijay Vishnu Gaikwad (70).

A man named Fazlu was on the same road with his wife and two-year-old granddaughter. Where the accident happened. His granddaughter and wife Habib are in the hospital. While he has a fracture in his shoulder.

The accused bus driver Sanjay More is 54 years old. Kurla police is registering a case against More. According to sources, at the time of this incident, there were about 60 passengers in that BEST bus. In this incident, 3 policemen and an MSF (Maharashtra Security Force) jawan were also injured. PSI (Police Sub Inspector) Prashant Chavan was also injured in this incident.

Giving information about this accident, an official said that the bus of Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking entered a residential society named Buddha Colony and then stopped. 3 people were found dead from the accident spot itself. The injured are being treated. The condition of some of the injured is said to be critical. Many vehicles were damaged in the accident. He said that the registration number of the bus is MH01-EM-8228. This bus was going from Kurla railway station to Andheri, when this accident happened.
