Former CM Manjhi’s grandson arrested for carrying liquor

Patna: Vikki Manjhi, grandson of former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, has been arrested by the Bihar police for carrying liquor in his vehicle. The Police officials said that they arrested Vikki on the basis of a tip-off that he was carrying liquor in his vehicle.

The police arrested the grandson of former CM at Kothwar in Dhobi area of Gaya district while he was returning from Jharkhand with his friend.

Vikki was stopped by the police officers and the bottles containing liquor were recovered from his car. The police alleged that he was also drunk while driving.

The officials said that he was being interrogated for more details.

It may be mentioned that the former CM’s grandson is out on bail as he had been arrested in connection with the murder of his wife earlier in January last.

Prohibition in state:

• It may be recalled that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has declared the prohibition on the consumption production and keeping of any form of alcohol in the state in April last.
• Former CM Manhji had, however, criticised this law and had opposed it.
