Lucknow: Bride burning for dowry and other demands are common in both Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, but burning of a junior engineer to death and that too of a female engineer is exceptional. Fortunately for the Uttar Pradesh government, which is busy in drafting a satisfactory reply to the high court on dengue deaths, the incident has taken place in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, that is known more for luscious Leechi fruit.

According to a delayed report reaching here on Thursday , the engineer’s body was burnt beyond recognition and she could be identified only by her footwear, found a little away from the chair to which she was tied before torching.

The killer who is yet to be identified and arrested has tried to give it a suicide colour. The police has found a suicide note in the room, asking mother to take care of her two grown up children. However, the police which gave her name as, Sarita Devi, is not ready to buy this theory and has registered a case of murder in this connection.

The needle of suspicion is pointed towards her office colleagues all of whom were not friendly to her. Mother of the deceased also suspects them behind the murder. The police is working on this and some other theories and interrogating even the owner of the house she had hired for stay.

The murder and not suicide theory is primarily based on some chemicals which were recovered from her room by the police after the incident.
