13 people died when a boat going from Gateway of India to Elephanta in Mumbai capsized in Uran of Karanja in the Arabian Sea. Gautam Gupta, an eyewitness to this accident, told the whole story. He said that I was recording a video of a speedboat, thinking that it was doing a stunt. Then suddenly it collided with our boat. I got a strong shock. One of the passengers of the speedboat jumped in the air. He fell on the deck of our boat. He was there in a mutilated condition.''

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given information about this accident. He told that on Wednesday afternoon at around 3:55 pm, a boat named 'Neelkamal' met with an accident. 101 people were rescued safely and 13 people died in the accident. Among the dead are 10 civilians and 3 Navy personnel. Two people are seriously injured, who have been admitted to the Navy hospital.

45-year-old Ganesh, who survived this accident, says that when he saw a boat like a speedboat coming fast towards the boat on whose deck he was standing, the thought came to his mind that something unpleasant could happen.

Ganesh said, "When I was watching the Arabian Sea and the sky of Mumbai, the boat was about eight to 10 km away from the coast, I saw that a ship like a speed boat was circling near our boat at full speed." He told that in the accident, a Navy personnel on board the boat died after his leg was cut off. He said, "As soon as the boat collided with our boat, sea water started coming into our ship, after which the captain of the boat told the passengers to wear life jackets as the boat was about to capsize." Ganesh said, "I took the life jacket, went up and jumped into the sea." A statement issued by the Navy said that the naval ship was going for engine testing, but then at four o'clock in the evening it lost control and collided with a boat named Neelkamal near Karanja. This boat was taking passengers from the Gateway of India to the popular tourist destination 'Elephanta' island.

The Navy said, "The Navy immediately started search and rescue efforts in coordination with the Coast Guard and Marine Police. The help of four naval helicopters, 11 naval boats, one Coast Guard boat and three marine police boats were taken in the rescue operation." It said, "With the help of Navy and other ships, the survivors were taken to the nearby jetty and then they were admitted to hospitals. So far 99 people have been rescued.
