No faith in Lko police, CM orders STF probe in girls murder

Lucknow: Showing lack of faith in Lucknow police, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has ordered a Special Task Force(STF) probe in the sensation rape and murder of a class 12th girl in the state capital.

He has directed the Director General of Police(DGP) Javeed Ahmad to directly supervise the Special Task Force(STF) probe into the case.

The information was shared by the CM on his official twitter handle.

About the incident:

In a sensational incident raising questions on the law and order of the state capital, a standard 12th girl was raped and killed and her naked body with her hands tied to a tree was dumped in a forest nullah, mere 100 meters from the chief minister's residence, DGP office and 1090 Women Power Line on Monday morning.

Teenager Pooja(not real name), student of Rani Laxmibai Girls College, was missing since February 10 last when she had left the house for her practical exams . A case in this regard was lodged in Jankipuram police station.

The father of the girl has alleged she was raped. The body was sent to postmortem while the probe was launched, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajesh Pandey said. On the basis of surveillance a rickshaw puller was identified who led police to the spot.

The incident poses challenge to the functioning of Lucknow police as the perpetrators of the crime had the courage to throw the body in the posh area near CM's residence. It is not know if the cameras were installed in the high security zone or not.
