Bijnore: Communal tension gripped the Bijnore district of western Uttar Pradesh after four persons of a community were killed and several others injured in dispute over eve-teasing in Peda village under Kotwali area on national Highway 119 in the outskirts of the city on Friday.

The trouble sparked off when a group of anti-social elements stormed into the locality and killed four persons in indiscreet firing. They, in fact, were scolded by resisted by the relatives of some school girls who were being teased by them. In retaliation, they reached at the house of the girl and killed three persons Sarfaraz, Aneesudding and Ahsaan on the spot while Rizwan succumbed to bullet injury later.

As the news spread , the members from both the communities gathered and soon the situation fomented into a communal problem.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav called state Director General of Police (DGP) Javeed Ahmad to have overview and sent ADG (Law and Order) Daljit Singh and Secretary( Home) Mani Prasad Mishra to the troubled place.

The additional police force was rushed from neighbouring police areas to prevent the siatution from turning worse. The situation remained 'tense but under control'.

The ADG and Secreatry (home) will be camping in Bijnore while strict vigil was being maintained.
