Two AK series rifles and several Glock pistols have been recovered from them.
Three terrorists who hurled grenades at a police post in Gurdaspur, Punjab have been gunned down in an encounter with police in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. An encounter broke out between the three criminals and a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police this morning. Police tried to arrest them, but the criminals opened fire. Sources said the injured criminals - Gurwinder Singh, Virendra Singh and Jaspreet Singh - succumbed to their injuries. Two AK series rifles and several Glock pistols have been recovered from them.
The Punjab Police has said that the three are part of a Pakistan-sponsored module of the Khalistan Zindabad Force. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said in a post on Twitter, "This terror module is involved in grenade attacks on police establishments in border areas of Punjab. The encounter took place between joint police teams of Pilibhit and Punjab in the jurisdiction of Police Station Puranpur in Pilibhit and three members of the module were involved in the grenade attack on a police post in Gurdaspur." He said, "Investigation is on to uncover the entire terrorist module." Talking about the encounter, the police officer said, "This morning, Gurdaspur police came to UP's Puranpur police station and informed that they have received information about the presence of 3 Khalistani terrorists who attacked their police station with grenades. The higher officials were informed about this information. Immediately, the entire area was blocked and checking was started. Then the police officer posted at Kamariya Point from Puranpur police station area informed that there are three youths on a bike here, who have suspicious items and they are going towards Pilibhit while driving the bike dangerously." He further said, "Soon after this, Punjab Police and our team chased them. On the other hand, Thana Gajraula and Thana Madhotanda were also informed about the possible routes to Puranpur. On this route, there is a bridge between Pilibhit and Puranpur, from there they got down on the canal track and started firing at the police. After this, retaliatory action was taken and all three terrorists were injured in the attack. They were admitted to the hospital, where they died".
Many police stations in Punjab are on the target of Khalistani terrorists. Babbar Khalsa International terrorists Happy Pensia and Jeevan Fauji may be involved in the attack on police stations in Punjab. NIA had warned Punjab Police a few days ago about the attack on police stations in its status report. This report was prepared on the basis of interrogation of Khalistani terrorists, their overground workers and digital evidence recovered in the raid.
NIA said in its report that like 1984, Khalistani terrorists are targeting police stations in Punjab under the dead drop model. In the dead drop model, terrorist organizations share their message through memory chip, pen drive or digital chip, which contains information about the target and the location of the explosives, with their over ground workers to target any building or person.
