Mentally unstable woman kills mother-in-law in Maharashtra
Sources said that the woman had been under treatment for mental illness but she had stopped taking her medicines for the past few weeks. It is a well-known fact that mental illness aggravates if medicines are not taken properly, regularly, and in the right dosages.
In a tragic incident, a mentally ‘unstable’ woman allegedly killed her mother-in-law in Nagpur city of Maharashtra on Sunday, according to the police sources.
The police officials said that the woman, who had been suffering from some psychiatric problems for the past several years, stabbed her 80-year-old mother-in-law at their house in the city following heated arguments.
The old woman was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead by the doctors, the police added.

The neighbours said that the woman often used to quarrel with her family members. She would often shout at them and also threatened them.
On Sunday, the woman had a fight with her mother-in-law over some issue. The woman, apparently, in a fit of rage, picked up a sharp-edged object and stabbed the octogenarian lady several times killing her on the spot, the police sources said.
The police arrived at the scene after being alerted by the neighbours.
Police officials said that a case under section 302 (murder) was registered against the woman. ‘’We are investigating the matter…..the woman will be sent for medical examination to ascertain the facts about her mental instability,’’ said a senior police official in Nagpur. The body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem examination.
In the eyes of law, mental illness or a person of unsound mind can’t be prosecuted for a crime and the person can also not be kept in a normal jail. Such a person will have to sent to some specialised centre for treatment of mental illness.
