Cape Town: India may have lost just one wicket in the first session of the Day 2, but the South African bowlers maintained a tight grip over the scoring rate in the first Test at the Newlands here on Saturday.

At Lunch on Day 2, India looked in great trouble at 76/4 with Cheteshwar Pujara (26 off 91, 5 fours) and Ravichandran Ashwin (12 off 23, 2 fours) batting at the crease.

The only wicket to have fallen in the first session today was of Rohit Sharma (11off 59, 1 four), who was in amazing form in the recently concluded home series against Sri Lanka. He was trapped in front of the wickets by Proteas pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada.

In the 25 overs bowled in the first session, India managed to score only 48 runs.

Earlier on Day 1, after being put in to bat first, India managed to wrap the home team for 286 runs but could not contain the scoring rate. South Africa on the other hand, not only dismissed India's top batsmen – Murali Vijay (1 off 17), Shikhar Dhawan (16 off 13) and Virat Kohli (5 off 13) – but also kept the run rate minimal.

All the South African pacers, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel and Kagiso Rabada, have bagged a wicket each so far.
