August 7 is celebrated as National Handloom Day to recognise the contribution and hard work of handloom weavers. It is the day when the country celebrates the effort of artisans, and weavers in preserving the indigenous crafts of India. Today, people are celebrating the occasion by talking about how handloom has enriched their lives. Several eminent personalities, including celebrities, took to social media to commemorate the day.

As the country marks National Handloom Day today, actor Samantha Akkineni was among the first to tweet about it. The 'Shaakuntalam' actress took to Twitter to share a throwback photo that shows her wearing a printed black saree with sneakers. The saree has been styled and designed by Preetham Jukalker. She completed her look with barrette clips and a pair of white sneakers.

Samantha will be next seen in the mythological drama 'Shaakuntalam,' which is directed by Gunasekhar. Bankrolled by Gunaa Teamworks and Dil Raju Productions, the film also stars Dev Mohan, Aditi Balan, Mohan Babu, Gautam, Madhoo, Allu Arha and Varshini Sounderajan in prominent roles. Prawin Pudi will be handling the editing department, and Mani Sharma will be composing the tunes for this flick. Sekhar V. Joseph is in charge of the camera work.
