Mumbai: Renowned Bollywood actor and social activist Chandrashekhar Vaidya passed away this morning due to age related problems. He was 98 years old. His son Professor Ashok Chandra Shekhar informed media about this sad news. The last rites of the actor will be performed today at 3 pm at the Vile Parle crematorium.

Played character of Sumant in Ramayan:

He has done more than 110 films in his career. Out of which he has also directed the film 'Cha Cha Cha' in the year 1964 and the film 'Street Singer' in 1966. He played the role of Sumant, the general secretary of King Dasharatha in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana. He gained a lot of popularity from this role. Chandrashekhar was a close friend of Ramanand Sagar.

He was born in Hyderabad in the year 1923, at a very young age, he had come into the film world, due to which he had to leave college. There was a time in his life when he worked as a watchman. After this he tried his luck in acting and became successful.
