Jodhpur: A court here on Thursday held actor Salman Khan guilty in the 1998 blackbuck killing case. The other four accused stars Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam were acquitted.

Here is the timeline of the blackbuck poaching case:

15 October 1998: Salman Khan and other actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam were charged by the Jodhpur court. A case was registered by the Forest department against Salman Khan under the arms act. It was mentioned that arms was used with expired license for alleged deer poaching on 1st October 1998 night.

Salman and other actors were shooting for the Bollywood film 'Hum Saath Saath Hai'.

2012: The charge on actor was revised by the high court.

April 10, 2006: Salman Khan convicted in the blackbuck hunting case. He was slapped a fine and sentenced to five years of jail. He spent a week in jail in Jodhpur before being granted bail.

19 June 2006: The revision petition was first filed by the defence and then by state government. The Rajasthan government sought the additional charges section 156 and 147 of the IPC against all five accused.

August 31, 2006: The Rajasthan Court suspended the sentence and ordered the actor to not leave the country without formal permission.

25 may 2013: The trial resumed after a hiatus of seven years.

December 18, 2014: Court rejected Salman Khan’s application seeking permission to summon the then Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and District Magistrate (DM) of Mumbai as witnesses in the arms case.

February 25, 2015: Court deferred the judgement saying four pending applications from the prosecution have come to light.

March 3, 2015: Jodhpur high court permitted new witness, document and evidence as prosecution had brought up a 9-years-old plea to produce new evidence and witness in case.

April 23 2015: Chief judicial magistrate accepted an application moved by Salman Khan’s counsel seeking exemption from his appearance in the court on the ground of ill health.

July 25, 2015: Rajasthan High Court acquitted Salman Khan in two more cases of deer poaching saying the prosecution failed to prove the charges against the Salman.

October 2016: Special leave petition filed by Rajasthan government against Salman’s acquittal.

November 11, 2016: Salman Khan gets Supreme Court notice on Rajasthan government's appeal over the acquittal in Chinkara poaching case.

April 5, 2018: Jodhpur court held Salman Khan guilty in the 20-year-old blackbuck poaching case. The court, however, acquitted other actors Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Tabu and Sonali Bendre.
