Bijnor: Day before first phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, a 17-year old boy was gunned down while his father sustained injuries when few attackers launched fire in Peda village, two kilometers from Bijnor police station, on Friday.

Vishal, along with his father Sanjay, has gone to the tubewell for water near their agricultural field. Suddenly, half dozen men came and fired rounds which struck both of them.

Vishal lost his life at the spot while his father Sanjay was admitted to the hospital.

"Our special units are investigating the matter. Heavy police force has been deployed in the region to avoid any voilence, said Bijnor superintendent of police. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

Few months back, in a communal clash, a total of 20 people were injured in the gun fire, out of which three succumbed to injuries here.

With this murder, the law and order crises of Uttar Pradesh have yet again came forward as Meerut will witness elections on February 11.
