UP govt declares seven district of Bundelkhand drought affected

Lucknow: Several years in the running, seven districts of Bundelkhand have been declared as drought hit in Uttar Pradesh.

Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Mahoba, Banda, Hamirpur, Jalaun and Kanpur are the districts which have been hit by the calamity of nature and it came to notice that Rabi crops in these districts were affected most in the last fiscal.

Farmers to get some facility from government:

  • The government will organize relief and health camps
  • Will distribute grains.
  • Annadata (peasants) will also get compensation from the Centre.
  • New hand pumps will be bore.
  • They will also get employment under the MNREGA.

Earlier, the government had declared 50 districts drought hit on the basis of rainfall. The rainfall in these districts was recorded less than 33 per cent.
