Once every year, a special 'Surya Tilak' will be applied on the forehead of Ramlala in the Ram temple of Ayodhya.

On every Ramnavami i.e. the birthday of Lord Ram, he will get the gift of a special Surya Tilak designed by the scientists. Through this device made of mirror and lens, the Sun's rays will fall directly on the forehead of the idol of 'Ramlala' in the afternoon of Ram Navami.

It is officially being called 'Surya Tilak Mechanism'. Preparing and installing it with precision was a challenge of science and engineering.

According to the media reports, at present only the structure up to the first floor has been built. All the equipment to be installed in the sanctum sanctorum and ground floor has been completed the reports said.

A gearbox, reflective mirrors and lenses have been arranged in such a way that the Sun's rays will be brought to the sanctum sanctorum from the third floor near the peak of the temple. In this the principles of changing the path of the Sun will be used.

In this construction, technical help regarding the path of the Sun has been taken from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bangalore. Optica, a Bengaluru company, has manufactured lenses and brass tubes.

The date of Ram Navami is determined by the lunar calendar and to ensure that the auspicious Abhishek happens as per the schedule, special arrangements of 19 gears have been made.

The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), India's premier institute in the field of astronomy, has solved the problem caused by the complex difference between the lunar and solar (Gregorian) calendars.

The IIA also has expertise in optics. He has designed some of the best telescopes in India. The institute's ingenuity has been used to bring sunlight into the closed sanctum sanctorum through a periscope-like device.

It may be possible to bring the sun's rays to the forehead of Ram Lalla's idol in Ayodhya's Ram temple, but there is a way to generate electricity using solar energy panels and make the Ram temple complex green and close to net-zero. And the ambitious project could not be implemented.

Nripendra Mishra, chairman of the temple construction committee of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, said, "The solar energy project had to be abandoned due to the presence of a large number of monkeys." He says, "There are a lot of monkeys there and they. "All are respectable. They may have damaged the exposed solar panels."

The Surya Tilak mechanism, similar to that of the Ram temple, is already being used in some Jain temples and the Sun Temple of Konark, although different engineering has been used.
