India has become the Cancer Capital of the world. In the latest report presented on the occasion of World Health Day, India has been called the cancer capital of the world. According to this report, 14 lakh new cancer patients were found in India in 2020. By 2025, this figure is expected to reach 15 lakh 70 thousand cases and by 2040, it is estimated to reach 20 lakh new cancer cases.

Apart from cancer, many other aspects have also been considered in the report. It has been said that non-communicable diseases are increasing in India and youth are becoming more vulnerable to it. One-third of Indians are pre-diabetic, which means they can fall prey to diabetes at any time. At the same time, two-thirds of Indians are at the stage of pre-hypertension, that is, they are about to get into hypertension.

1 out of every 10 Indians is suffering from depression. Cancer, diabetes, heart diseases, mental illnesses have reached dangerous levels. In these too, special concern has been expressed regarding cancer cases. Cancer cases have become much higher than the global average.

Changing lifestyle, change in environment, social and economic challenges are the reasons behind the increasing cases of cancer in India. The increasing use of tobacco is promoting lung, mouth and throat cancer. Due to air pollution, cancer causing particles enter our body and increase the risk of developing many types of cancer. Obesity is increasing due to increase in the use of processed food and decrease in physically demanding work, due to which breast cancer and colorectal cancer are increasing.

There is still a lot of lack of awareness regarding cancer. Late detection of cancer and delay in starting its treatment is also associated with its dangerous form.

Why is India becoming cancer capital?

Gradually the figures of cancer cases are increasing in our country. This is happening because we are a developing country and we are allowing pollution to happen in the country. Western countries are developed and have started saving their environment but pollution is increasing here. All these factors are having a direct impact on us.

Being a developing country, competition among people is increasing and their pressure is increasing. Because of this, marriages are taking place late and children are taking place late. Mothers are not able to feed milk to their children and all these things are affecting our health. Due to this the body is becoming weak at the molecular level.
