Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal finally appeared in Rouse Avenue Court today in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. The court granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in two cases registered by the investigating agency for not appearing on ED summons. This bail to the Chief Minister of Delhi is for violation of Section 174 of the IPC. After this, Arvind Kejriwal's lawyer requested the court to let his client go and the debate in this case should continue. The court gave permission and Arvind Kejriwal left the court, but the hearing on this case continued in the court. Now the next hearing in this case will be on April 1, but now Arvind Kejriwal will not have to appear in person.

In fact, Arvind Kejriwal was not appearing for questioning despite repeated summons by the Enforcement Directorate. In such a situation, ED had filed a petition against Kejriwal in the court. The ED had filed a petition in the magisterial court seeking to prosecute Kejriwal as he had not appeared for questioning even after the first three summons issued to him in the money laundering case related to the now defunct Delhi Liquor Policy.

Kejriwal appeared before the court in connection with two cases registered against him by the investigating agency for not appearing on ED summons in the excise policy case. Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court ACMM granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on a personal bond of Rs 15,000 and a surety amount of Rs 1 lakh.

ED has so far issued 8 summons to Kejriwal. Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court had issued summons to Arvind Kejriwal and asked him to appear on March 16. The ED had filed a fresh complaint in the court requesting to prosecute Arvind Kejriwal for not complying with the summons in the money laundering investigation.

Aam Aadmi Party legal head Sanjeev Nasiyar said, "The court had summoned the Chief Minister (Arvind Kejriwal). The last time he participated in it through video conferencing, when he was directed again he said that he was physically unable to attend the hearing." Will appear in person. He appeared today and deposited the bail bond. Bail was granted. Our stand regarding the ED summons is clear that they are not in accordance with the law and are illegal. Now this will be decided by the court. We will appeal to the court We have full confidence. Whatever decision the court takes, our decision will be in accordance with it."
